SL 10,1624-1629 - It is not permissible to depose pastors because they sternly rebuke public vice
This is a translation of a letter written by Luther to a particular city council defending the pastor's office against unjustified attack. Translated from SL 10,1624-1629 - Ver 1.1.

This is a translation of a Wittenberg opinion given by Luther and other leading theologians regarding a controversy of church order in Zwickau. Translated from WA Br 7, 476-479.

A five part article by C.F.W Walther on absolution (Die Heilige Absolution, gerettet gegen die Laesterungen der Methodisten) appeared in Der Lutheraner in 1846. I have translated two parts of this series of articles which will appear in print in Logia.
it is discussed in these blog entries (among others):

Das Amt des Pastors als Schulaufseher.pdf
This article, "The office of the pastor as overseer of the school", was written by C.A.T Selle and appeared in the Missouri Synod journal Evang. - Luth. Schulblatt 4, 5 (1869). I translated it at the end of 1995 / beginning of 1996.
C.F.W Walther made a very important comment regarding the article in Der Lutheraner at the time, regarding his judgement of the importance of the article. This is reproduced on the title page.
I dedicate this particular translation to St. John Lutheran Church, in Seward, NE. Those involved there will understand the direct applicability as their long term struggles, IMO, have largely to do with the doctrine of the ministry and the related struggles for control and power in the congregation.

Expulsion of a Lutheran Deacon.pdf
This article appeared in Der Lutheraner 23,9 (1867): 65-68 and is a document from the controversy between the Missouri Synod and the Buffalo Synod at that time.
I translated it in sometime in the early 90's. I've actually lost the orginal translation document and had to recover this copy from here (where it was archived a short time after I had created it):
www.ctsfw.edu/etext/walther/deacon.asc
The document is actually much more important than its main topic. It is important because it clearly shows the difference between the Missouri Synod (or at least C.F.W. Walther) and the Buffalo Synod in defining the essential nature of the public ministry

Hat die Gemeinde das Recht.pdf
The translation of this article was published in Logia 6 (1997), 37 - 47. See comments on the Published Works page. Published Works

This article "Concerning the name "Lutheran" appeared in Der Lutheraner 1,1 (1844): 2-4, 5-7, 9-12. It was one of the first articles to appear in that famous journal edited by C.F.W. Walther.
This translation was first published in the Husker Lutheran of the University Lutheran Chapel at the University of Nebraska in 1989. It was revised in 1994 before being printed in commemoration of the article's (and Der Lutheraner's) 150th anniversary. It can also be found on the web at several locations - an easy Google.
